FAQ

  • What time should we be there?
The ceremony will begin at 5pm on June 29. We recommend arriving 15 minutes early to get situated.
  • How do I get to The Joinery and is there parking?
The Joinery is located at 2533 West Homer Street, Chicago, IL 60647. Street parking is limited (please take note of parking restriction signage). We encourage use of public transit, taxis, and ride-hailing services.
The Joinery is 0.2 miles from the Western stop on the CTA Blue Line. If you are coming from the JW Marriott hotel, walk 0.2 miles to the Monroe stop on the CTA Blue Line (114 South Dearborn Street). Board a train toward O’Hare, and ride seven stops to the Western stop. When you exit, head north one block and turn west at Homer Street.
  • May I bring my children?
We love your kiddos – we really do! However, we would like this to be your night off. Please email us at rachelalexwedding2019@gmail.com if we can provide assistance with childcare recommendations.
  • What should I wear?
The dress code for our wedding is semi-formal/cocktail attire. We kindly ask ladies to wear cocktail dresses or dressy separates, and men to wear suits or blazers, with or without ties.
  • Will we be indoors or outdoors?
Weather permitting, the ceremony will be outdoors in the courtyard. The reception will mainly be indoors, though you may choose to enjoy the courtyard until 9pm.
  • What will the weather be like this time of year?
The historical average temperatures are a high of 84° and low of 66°. However, it’s Illinois and anything could happen, so please check the weather as the date nears.
  • What type of food and drink will be served?
We are pleased to offer catering that will be grilled on-site. There will be passed appetizers during the cocktail hour, followed by a buffet dinner to include salad, side dishes, and meat entrées. The vegan (vegetarian) entrée is to order, so please do indicate if that is your preference on your RSVP. In addition, dessert and a late-night snack will be served. A curated beer list, wine, limited spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages will be available.
If you have a dietary restriction, please email us at rachelalexwedding2019@gmail.com. We want you to be safe and comfortable!
  • May I take photos and/or post them on social media?
We ask you to be present during the ceremony itself and allow our professional photographer to capture the moment. Outside of that, yes, please do take photos! We are not supporters of social media and prefer you please share photos with us directly, without making photos available to the public and private companies.
  • What time does the wedding end?
The festivities at The Joinery will conclude at 11pm. However, join us in continuing the celebration afterward just down the street at Green Eye Lounge (2403 West Homer Street).
  • How do I contact you if I have other questions?
We’d love to hear from you! Please contact us through your usual method or email us at rachelalexwedding2019@gmail.com.
